We're open from 12-6 PM this weekend for Philadelphia Open Studio Tours. I think this is round #7 or 8 for us. I'll post a recap after the event.

Gearing up for POST (Philadelphia Open Studio Tours)
Andi and I have done POST since we moved to Philly in 2007, and this year's no different. Last year was a bit dicey because most of our work was out in a two person show at Millersville University, but this year we should have a fair amount of inventory around and new stuff to show.
I like POST. I like the fact that totally random people walk in the door. I like that some of those people come back every year, I like the social experience of having folks in our studios which for us amounts to having them in our home, in our back yard (our studios are in a carriage house behind our row home).
This week and next week we're probably going to continue cleaning up the attic and doing some general refurb of the space. In September we'll be too distracted with school starting, a new show at Mount Airy Contemporary, and getting work ready for POST, so if it doesn't happen now, the fall cleaning will never get finished.
Oh, that show at MAC: we're hosting The Suburban.
Philadelphia Open Studio Tours 2013
So our studios at 25 West Mt. Airy Avenue will be open again for Philadelphia Open Studio Tours this coming weekend - October 19-20th 2013, 12 PM - 6 PM both days.

Made in Philly Poster up now at Allen’s Lane Train Station
So this is up now through I think the first week in November. It’s part of CFEVA’s Made In Philly project, and I guess I have the honor of being the one placed furthest northwest! There are a few more in Germantown (Paul DuSold, Joel Erland/Kate Kaman and Melissa Madonni Haims) and one down in Manayunk (Leah MacDonald). The rest are in parts south.
All the artists are POST participants. I’ll have my studio doors open October 19th and 20th from 12-6 PM, and Mount Airy Contemporary (underneath my studio) will be open as well with the current show, Brad Litwin and Jonathan Eckel, both Germantown based artists.
Made In Philly
Made in Philly is a CFEVA initiative that runs September through October. This will be mounted in advertising space at the Allens Lane Train Station.
POST 2011/Staged Recap
My wife Andrea and I share studio space, and also run an informal gallery called Mount Airy Contemporary Artists Space (MACAS), both out of the carriage house behind our home. So at any given moment there’s considerable blurring of lines between one kind of art engagement and another. Once a year there’s quite a bit more overlap between our private studio practice and MACAS. That’s pretty much during Philadelphia Open Studio Tours.
We’ve done POST four years now, and this is our second Open Studio since we launched MACAS.
This year, because we were working with CFEVA on a joint project which opened during the same weekend, the blurring of boundaries were pretty extensive. We did triple duty - open studios, gallery admin, a speaking piece with a CFEVA Curated Trolley Tour, and Sam running around telling people to sign the guestbook.
Thank you to the 200+ folks who came through our doors during POST 2011. It’s an exhausting whirlwind that always rewards.
